Cotton or rayon neurosurgical patties in sizes from 7×7mm to 25×75mm. X-ray detectable radiopaque thread standard. 14" retrieval string. 10/counting card sterile pouch presentation. CE Class III · FDA 510(k) · SFDA registered · ISO 13485.
Every specification detail in a neurosurgical patty exists for a clinical reason — from the retrieval string length to the counting card format. Here is what matters at procurement level.
Radiopaque BaSO₄ marker woven into each patty. Visible on intraoperative X-ray and fluoroscopic imaging. Essential for retained-item verification in intradural procedures.
Medical-grade silk or synthetic string attached to every patty. Remains outside the surgical corridor for visual tracking. Colour-coded by size series for field identification.
10 patties mounted on numbered counting card in each sterile pouch. Mandatory patient safety feature — enables complete count reconciliation before wound closure.
Both materials available. Cotton: highest absorption (20×), slower drying, least brain tissue adhesion in clinical studies. Rayon: lower lint, superior pliability, lower cost.
7×7mm through 25×75mm covering micro keyhole to open cranial and spinal procedures. Custom sizes available for specific surgical protocols.
Full notified body CE Class III certification — the highest EU device risk classification due to direct CNS contact. ISO 10993 biocompatibility, FDA 510(k), SFDA registered.
Both materials are clinically used. The choice depends on the procedure type and the neurosurgical team's preference. Both are available from Kingphar.
Specify sizes in millimetres in tender documents. Imperial dimensions create ambiguity in cross-border procurement.
| Size (mm) | Imperial | Thickness | Primary Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7 × 7mm | ¼" × ¼" | ~1mm | Micro keyhole neurosurgery, endoscopic procedures |
| 12.5 × 12.5mm | ½" × ½" | ~1mm | Microsurgery, small craniotomy access |
| 25 × 25mm | 1" × 1" | ~1mm | Standard craniotomy field protection |
| 25 × 50mm | 1" × 2" | ~1mm | Spinal surgery, broader field access |
| 25 × 75mm | 1" × 3" | ~1mm | Spinal cord protection, open cranial field |
Used in almost every intradural neurosurgical procedure worldwide for tissue protection, haemostasis, fluid management, and retraction assist.
Custom configurations from 50,000 pieces. Standard catalogue SKUs from 5,000 pieces. Full Class III CE documentation package included. SFDA registration supported for GCC hospital tenders.
Neurosurgical patties require the most rigorous compliance documentation of any surgical sponge category due to direct CNS contact classification.
Request samples, technical datasheets, and a tailored quotation for your hospital tender. Cotton and rayon variants available across all standard sizes with full Class III CE documentation.
