Absorbent Gauze Roll
100% absorbent cotton woven gauze rolls — EN 14079:2003 compliant, BP Type 13 Light grade (minimum 19×15 threads/cm²). Available in narrow clinical widths (5–20 cm) for direct hospital use and wide jumbo format (90 cm) for manufacturers. Sterile and non-sterile. Batch CoA provided with every shipment.

Three Roll Formats
Choose the Right Format for Your Application
Hospitals · Clinics · Direct clinical use
Clinical Narrow Roll
Widths 5–20 cm × standard lengths. Cut from jumbo rolls during manufacturing and packaged for clinical use — sterile or non-sterile. Standard format for hospital wound care, padding, surgical site preparation, wound packing, and emergency hemostasis.
Buyers: Hospitals, surgical centers, clinics, pharmacies, first aid assemblers.
Ward dispensing · Infection control
Zigzag / Fan-Folded
Same material as narrow roll, fan-folded into a dispensing pack. Each sheet removed individually from the top — no handling of remaining supply. Eliminates cross-contamination from multiple users touching the same roll. Infection control advantage for high-throughput wards.
Buyers: Hospital wards, outpatient departments, high-patient-turnover clinical settings.
Manufacturers · Raw material
Jumbo / Pillow Roll (90 cm)
90 cm wide × 100 m or more in length. Non-sterile raw material for manufacturing conversion — cutting, folding, and packaging into finished gauze swabs, dressings, and bandages. Not packaged for direct clinical use.
Buyers: Medical device manufacturers, dressing converters, large distributors converting to finished goods. Not for direct hospital ward procurement.
Hospital procurement: specify clinical narrow roll width — not "90 cm gauze roll"
"Gauze roll" without width specification may result in 90 cm jumbo raw material rolls, which are not individually packaged for clinical use. For hospital procurement, specify width (e.g., 10 cm), ply (e.g., 2-ply), mesh standard (EN 14079 / BP Type 13 Light min. 19×15 threads/cm²), and sterile or non-sterile.
Product Features
Why Kingphar Absorbent Gauze Roll
🧵
100% Absorbent Cotton — No OBAs
100% purified absorbent cotton, oxygen-bleached. Zero optical brightening agents (OBAs) — EN 14079 §4.4 prohibits fluorescence in medical gauze. UV fluorescence test result included on batch CoA. No synthetic fibre admixture.
📋
EN 14079:2003 Compliant — Batch CoA
Every shipment accompanied by batch Certificate of Analysis with actual measured values for thread count, weight per m², sinking time, and ether-soluble substances — not just a compliance label claim. EN 14079:2003 sinking time ≤10 s confirmed per batch.
💧
Sinking Time ≤10 s (EN 14079 §4.8)
Rapid hydrophilicity confirmed — gauze sinks within 10 seconds when placed on water surface, confirming thorough removal of natural cotton waxes and oils during bleaching. Essential for rapid wound fluid management.
🔬
BP Type 13 Light Grade
Minimum mesh density 19×15 threads/cm² (warp×weft). Weight range approximately 12–16 g/m² — lightest-weight clinically specified construction. Excellent conformability and breathability for wound dressing and cast padding applications.
📐
Full Width & Ply Range
Clinical narrow rolls: 5, 7.5, 10, 15, 20 cm. Jumbo rolls: 90 cm. Ply: 1-ply, 2-ply, 4-ply. Zigzag fan-folded dispensing format also available. Specify width, ply, and format at order stage.

Mesh Density Options
Select Mesh by Clinical Application
Standard clinical — BP Type 13 Light
19×15 /cm²
Minimum per BP Type 13 Light. Weight ~12–16 g/m². Best conformability and breathability. Most commonly specified for ward wound care and cast padding.
Institutional standard (UNICEF spec)
17 /cm²
Approx. 95–105 warp / 66–74 weft per dm. Weight ~23 g/m². Widely specified in humanitarian and large institutional tenders.
Dense surgical mesh
24–30 /cm²
Higher tensile strength, lower lint. Preferred for surgical instrument cleaning and OR applications. Lower absorbency per unit weight than open mesh.
Higher mesh density ≠ better absorbency
Denser mesh increases tensile strength and reduces lint but decreases absorbency per gram. Open-mesh BP Type 13 Light (19×15/cm²) absorbs more fluid per unit weight than dense surgical mesh. Specify mesh based on application — open mesh for wound dressing; dense mesh for surgical strength requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Expert insights into Kingphar’s Gauze Roll manufacturing and global standards.

Q1: Does Kingphar gauze roll comply with USP or BP standards?
Yes. Our gauze rolls are fully compliant with British Pharmacopoeia (BP) and United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) for Type 13, Type 17, and Type 20. We provide full batch traceability and certificates of analysis (CoA) for every shipment.
Q2: What is the significance of the "80-degree whiteness" in your cotton?
Whiteness ≥ 80 degrees indicates a high level of fiber purity achieved through our chlorine-free oxygen bleaching. It ensures the gauze is free from natural waxes and proteins, maximizing absorbency while remaining pH-balanced and non-irritating to tissue.
Q3: Can you provide "Joint-Free" gauze rolls for large jumbo orders?
Absolutely. We specialize in producing continuous joint-free gauze rolls in lengths up to 2000m. This is critical for automated converting machines, reducing downtime and ensuring uniform density throughout the roll.
Q4: Are the green and blue gauze rolls made with safe dyes?
Yes, our colored gauze rolls (Green and Blue) are manufactured using medical-grade, non-toxic dyes that do not bleed or migrate. They are specifically designed for theater use to provide contrast against red tissues and fluids.
Q5: Is X-Ray detectability available for all gauze roll widths?
Yes. We can integrate a barium sulfate (BaSO₄) filament into 36'' (90cm) or 48'' (120cm) widths. This ensures the gauze can be easily identified via X-ray if accidentally left in a surgical cavity.
Q6: What customization options do you offer for length and ply?
We offer full customization. While 1000m/2000m jumbos are standard for converters, we also produce retail-ready lengths like 5.5, 11, or 100 yards in 1-ply, 2-ply, or 4-ply configurations to suit your specific market.
Q7: How do you ensure the gauze is "lint-free" during production?
Kingphar utilizes a unique high-tensile weaving process and 100% natural long-staple cotton. This preserves fiber integrity, significantly reducing linting and shredding compared to recycled cotton alternatives.
Q8: Are your gauze rolls suitable for deep tissue contact?
Yes. Because our rolls undergo a 100% Hydrogen Peroxide (H₂O₂) bleaching process, they are free from chlorine residues and optical brighteners, making them safe for biocompatible contact in surgical environments.
