How the Pressure Bar Works
1
Sterile non-adherent pad — 100% cotton absorbent pad placed directly on wound. Non-adherent surface allows removal without reopening clot. Absorbs hemorrhage and initiates pressure. Source: RHINO RESCUE product documentation.
2
Pressure bar (applicator) — rigid plastic bar attached to elastic bandage. After pad is placed and bandage wrapped once around the limb, bandage is fed through the pressure bar opening then reversed — forcing the bar down onto the pad. Creates concentrated, sustained mechanical pressure directly on wound without manual holding. The key clinical innovation.
3
Elastic bandage wrap — high-stretch elastic provides wrapping tension, tensions the pressure bar system, and conforms to the limb. Maintains pressure as wound swells. Approximately 6 feet unstretched for 4" and 6" sizes.
4
Closure bar (locking clip) — secures terminal end of elastic bandage in place. Operable by sliding with one hand — enables self-application. Locks the entire compression system without slipping. Source: Wikipedia (Emergency Bandage), multiple product IFUs.
Confirm pressure bar is present — not just pad + elastic wrap
Some products labelled "compress bandage" provide only an absorbent pad attached to an elastic bandage, without a pressure bar mechanism. The pressure bar is the defining clinical feature — it creates focused mechanical pressure on the wound site that circumferential wrapping alone cannot achieve. Always confirm the pressure bar applicator is included in the product specification. See our Compress Bandage Procurement Guide for full clinical explanation.
Size Selection
Choose by Wound Type and Setting
Compact / small extremities
4"
10 cm wide
Pad: 4"×7" · Bandage: ~6 ft unstretched
Most compact. Forearm, lower leg, paediatric limbs. Individual carry IFAK and vehicle kits. May be marginal for large adult thigh wounds.
★ Most widely used
6"
15 cm wide
Pad: 6"–6.5" × 6" · Bandage: 6+ ft unstretched
Standard adult format. Thigh, shoulder, head/scalp, large extremity wounds. Recommended for general workplace first aid kits, military IFAKs, and emergency response vehicles.
Large wounds / medic kit
8"
20 cm wide
Pad: 12"×12" · ~2.5–3× coverage vs 6"
Abdominal eviscerations, amputation stumps, large burns, blast injuries. Medic bag and advanced trauma kit item. 8-year shelf life (PerSys Medical authentic format).
Product Features
Why Kingphar Compress Bandage
🎯
Focused Mechanical Pressure
Pressure bar mechanism creates concentrated pressure directly on the wound site — more effective for hemorrhage control than circumferential wrapping alone. Sustained without manual holding after application.
🖐
One-Handed Self-Application
Designed for application by an injured person with one hand when no rescuer is available. Pressure bar and closure bar both operable single-handed. Critical for mass casualty and remote scenarios. Source: multiple product IFUs.
🔒
Double Vacuum-Sealed — 5+ Year Shelf Life
Inner and outer vacuum seals maintain sterility and extend shelf life to 5–8 years. Sterility assured while both seals intact. Compact compressed packaging for IFAK and kit storage. Source: EVERLIT (5 yr), Safeguard Medical (8 yr).
🩹
Sterile Non-Adherent Cotton Pad
100% cotton sterile pad — non-adherent to wound surface. Absorbs hemorrhage without bonding to the wound bed. Allows eventual removal without reopening clot. Source: RHINO RESCUE product documentation.
📋
ANSI Z308.1-2021 Compatible
Meets trauma dressing for bleeding control requirement in 2021 ANSI Z308.1 revision. Compatible with DIN 13164:2022 trauma pad requirement. Suitable for NATO IFAK standards.
